ColorPad v2.7 released :)

Fri Nov 28, 2008, 10:25 PM
Yep, another day, another colorpad release. This one makes the "Snap to screen" feature also snap to other windows, and allows you do load a skin via a skin's xxx_mask.bmp file (previously colorpad would just try to load this as a skin and you'd end up with something weird.)

This'll probably my last update for a while, as I will be back to working on my 3D coding project on my free time. If there are any updates you'd realy like to see or any other good ideas for this or any other apps, shoot me an email! :)

hey! me again needing your advise.

this it´s all about the pixel which shows colorpad the font color.

I´m not able to set it right to x83 y0... colorpad still uses black for the font. it don´t cares which color this pixel has.

can you please explain this setting to me?

To set the font color, you need to update the mask bmp to include one pixel that is black (0,0,0). In the image bmp, at the same (x,y) that you have the black pixel in the mask bmp, you make this pixel the color you want the font to be. This changes the colors for all the text. You can also specify the color for individual text entries (red hex text, green hex text etc...). This info should be in the "colorpad skinning.txt" file:

- TEXT COLOR/POSITION -----------
000,000,000 000000 Default Text color - Location of the
default text color.
(can be overwritten
by defining one or
more of the below...)

Hope that helps, you can always send me your mask at vturnip@yahoo.com and I can give it a look or see if there's a bug in the app or whatever.

SURE, that helps. now I understand :)

hey dude!

Just downloaded the new version of colorpad and the skins from the link you prvided in the skinning.txt! btw, interesting wood skin :)
but now my question:
the"old_wood" & "wood" skin got no seperated mask.bmp. they all use the mask.bmp! right:?

second question:
the skins I downloaded contain one on the left and one on the right. both in one picture. the left one is used as spalsh screen. right:?

Hey man :)

The mask.bmp is not really "used", for skins that don't have a XXX_mask.bmp, ColorPad will use an internal mask which both the wood and ld_wood skins use (if you delete the mask.bmp, or rename it, the skins will still load.)

Yeah the splash screen on the right is not used. The mask defines what is used. I think if I remember correctly, I had plans for making that be what is shown when the app is not selected, but I scratched that idea because that doesn't make sense (I'd much rather see what the current color is). So yeah, that part is useless. Actually, all parts that aren't a defined color in the mask (or default mask) are useless. (I had completely forgotten about all that hehe, nice find) :)

I hope you still exist, Rethan.

You're surely brilliant, pity we lost contact over the time.

I'll add you in here, I truly hope you're still alive and keeping up with the wonderful work.
